Prayer - Of James

Heavenly Father,

We claim the words of James, the letter writer and disciple, as our own, as we pray:

We consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds, because we know the testing of our faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so we may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of us lacks wisdom, we ask You, God, who gives generously to all without finding fault. We do believe and do not doubt.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life You, the Lord, have promised to those who love You.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from You, our Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. You chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all You created.

Let us be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness You desire. We do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive ourselves. We do what it says.

We pray these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

Prayer - Commitment

Heavenly Father,

How wonderful You are! We worship You for the many blessings You give Your children and for the gifts of Your grace and mercy.

You often hear us complain, saying life's unfair. We fail to see Your work in us, using disappointment, waiting, health challenges, and even tragedy to shape us into who You desire us to be. Help us to remember, all things can be used to Your good and while You do not cause our pain You can use it.

We turn to Your Word, looking for answers and find them all there, waiting to be discovered and applied. We thank You for understanding our needs when we ourselves do not. We are grateful for Your unconditional love despite our sin. And we do truly repent, turning away from the worldly toward You, Jesus. Let our lives be committed to honoring You.

In Jesus' Holy Name we pray. Amen.

Prayer - Intimacy

Heavenly Father,

How wonderful is Your name, deserving of honor, praise, and thanksgiving. You alone are holy and mighty are your works in all the earth.

Draw us close, Jesus, so we can walk in Your ways and do Your will. Guide us in right paths and help us to be true disciples. Open our hearts and minds to Your teachings, shaping our lives to honor You in all we say and do.

Because of Your mercy and grace, we are a forgiven people, loved unconditionally. Let our joy and peace made possible by your death and resurrection be evident to all we encounter. Help us to bring one more into relationship with You, Jesus.

Forgive our sins and cleanse us from unrighteousness. Renew our spirits and refresh our souls. For those who are hurting, we pray for comfort. For those who are anxious, we pray for peace. For those who are grieving, we pray for contentment.

All these things we ask in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

Easter

Heavenly Father,

We celebrate today! In worship, awe, and reverence we praise You for raising Your Son, Jesus, our Savior, from the dead, forever conquering sin. We glorify You, honor You, and raise our voices in joyful song of adoration.

For Your grace and mercy, we thank You.

For Your sovereignty and might, we thank You.

For Your unconditional love which casts out fear, we thank You.

Jesus, our risen King, we offer ourselves to be Your servants. Let us honor your sacrifice with whole-hearted devotion. Equip us to tell all who will hear of Your victory over the dark forces of sin, and bring others into Your light.

When we sin, when we turn away, when we choose self over You, forgive us. Bring us back to the cross, at Your feet, where we can live in perfect peace - Your perfect peace.

It's Easter morning! We praise Your name! Amen.

Lent 6 - Hosanna!

Heavenly Father,

We raise our loud hosannas today, remembering our Savior's triumphant ride on Palm Sunday. We wave our palm branches and glorify You, worshipping and praising.

As we celebrate, we prepare our hearts for Holy Week and the Passion. Our understanding of Jesus' sacrifice is so often limited. We know Jesus died for us and easily forget He was human, like us, feeling pain and agony beyond our comprehension.

Help us to remember Christ's love for us was so immense, so vast, He willing took up the cross and died to save us. Let us live our lives in a way we honor His sacrifice, boldly sharing the good news of the Gospel and its power to save us from sin and death.

Hosanna! Hosanna!

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
