Prayer - Independence Day

Heavenly Father,

We give you our first fruits of time, talents, resources, and service. You alone are worthy of our praise and thanksgiving. All good things come from you and we are grateful.

We celebrate the birth of our nation, a land founded by people who desired the freedom to worship. Let the traditions of our founders continue today as we place our faith in you to protect this free land where we worship without fear.

Unite your sons and daughters in celebration of our nation’s birth, never forgetting our allegiance to you first. And we claim the words of Francis Scott Key as our prayer:

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Amen.
