Prayer - Intimacy

Heavenly Father,

How wonderful is Your name, deserving of honor, praise, and thanksgiving. You alone are holy and mighty are your works in all the earth.

Draw us close, Jesus, so we can walk in Your ways and do Your will. Guide us in right paths and help us to be true disciples. Open our hearts and minds to Your teachings, shaping our lives to honor You in all we say and do.

Because of Your mercy and grace, we are a forgiven people, loved unconditionally. Let our joy and peace made possible by your death and resurrection be evident to all we encounter. Help us to bring one more into relationship with You, Jesus.

Forgive our sins and cleanse us from unrighteousness. Renew our spirits and refresh our souls. For those who are hurting, we pray for comfort. For those who are anxious, we pray for peace. For those who are grieving, we pray for contentment.

All these things we ask in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

Easter

Heavenly Father,

We celebrate today! In worship, awe, and reverence we praise You for raising Your Son, Jesus, our Savior, from the dead, forever conquering sin. We glorify You, honor You, and raise our voices in joyful song of adoration.

For Your grace and mercy, we thank You.

For Your sovereignty and might, we thank You.

For Your unconditional love which casts out fear, we thank You.

Jesus, our risen King, we offer ourselves to be Your servants. Let us honor your sacrifice with whole-hearted devotion. Equip us to tell all who will hear of Your victory over the dark forces of sin, and bring others into Your light.

When we sin, when we turn away, when we choose self over You, forgive us. Bring us back to the cross, at Your feet, where we can live in perfect peace - Your perfect peace.

It's Easter morning! We praise Your name! Amen.

Lent 6 - Hosanna!

Heavenly Father,

We raise our loud hosannas today, remembering our Savior's triumphant ride on Palm Sunday. We wave our palm branches and glorify You, worshipping and praising.

As we celebrate, we prepare our hearts for Holy Week and the Passion. Our understanding of Jesus' sacrifice is so often limited. We know Jesus died for us and easily forget He was human, like us, feeling pain and agony beyond our comprehension.

Help us to remember Christ's love for us was so immense, so vast, He willing took up the cross and died to save us. Let us live our lives in a way we honor His sacrifice, boldly sharing the good news of the Gospel and its power to save us from sin and death.

Hosanna! Hosanna!

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Prayer - Lent 5

Heavenly Father,

We continue our journey through this season of Lent with hearts filled with love for you, giving you all glory, honor and praise. You alone are holy and worthy of our worship. We redouble our efforts to be pleasing in your sight.

As we exercise spiritual disciplines, we do so to honor you and bring you pleasure. Let these sacrifices and additions of spiritual practices help us grow closer to you, to reflect Jesus’ 40 days of fasting in the wilderness, and develop our spiritual maturity. When resolutions fail, let our devotion to you in these disciplines succeed because they are designed to honor you.

We ask for your guiding Spirit to be present among us during Lent and always. Help us grow into your likeness. Give us the courage to proclaim you boldly to those who need to know of your saving grace, unconditional love, and blessed forgiveness.

We seek your blessing for all the people of the Early UMC. Pour out your favor over your church so we can be ministers of the Gospel who honor you in all our actions. Let our activities and our worship be pleasing in your sight.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Prayer - Lent 4

Heavenly Father,

We claim the words of the Psalmist as our own as we pray:

I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

Let these supplications become truth for all of us as we continue through the Lenten season, growing in closer relationship with You. All we have and all we are are Yours, Almighty Father, and we rejoice in Your grace and mercy.

We pray in the holy name of Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

Prayer - Lent 3

Heavenly Father,

All glory is Yours, Almighty God, for Your wonderful deeds and saving grace. None is like You, Lord, who sees our flaws and loves us in spite of them. We honor You and give You our praise.

Help us to see the fruits of life lived in and for You. Guide us as we repent of our sin and joyfully live into life in Your name. Give us patience with ourselves and greater trust in You. Reveal Your will for our lives, for the mission You have called us to complete.

Let our confidence in Your love and our salvation be apparent to all we encounter. Let us reflect Jesus' love to our family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. Let our witness to Your grace draw others to You.

We repent of our sin and lay it at Your feet, Precious Jesus. We relinquish the hold of material goods, money, and power on our lives. We turn away from our former selves and take on Christ!

All these things, we pray with sincere hearts and the hope of Christ our Savior. Amen.

Prayer Lent 2

Heavenly Father,

We praise Your glorious name, giving You all honor and glory. We worship You, Creator God, and celebrate Your unconditional, unchanging love for all of Your children.

In this time of repentence, preparation, and anticipation, help us to faithfully set aside time for You. Give us hearts for study of Your Word, time spent in meditation and prayer. Let this Lenten season be a time of drawing closer to You as we shut out the noise of the world.

We thank You for seeing our need and meeting it. We are filled with gratitude as we remember the gift of Your Son, Jesus, whose life, ministry, death, and resurrection transformed lives.

We pray for those who don't know You, Gracious God, nor our Savior Jesus. We intercede for them, asking You to soften their hearts and equip us for ministry to them. Give us the words, the actions, and the courage to witness to them. Help us bring one more to Jesus.

Forgive us, Lord, when we turn the other way when we see someone in need. Forgive us when we let busyness prevent us from time spent in communion with You.

We continue on our Lenten journey, seeking to be ever closer to You, with praise and thanksgiving for Your grace and mercy.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
